Focus, Fun, Feel

Focussed lessons

On the swimming experience for you and your child.

On helping your child have fun in the swimming pool, while progressing - leading to the enjoyment of water and swimming, into adulthood.

On teaching parents of babies/toddlers how to have focused time in the swimming pool with their little ones.

On our swim teachers, focussing on your child’s swimming needs and progression, allowing them to develop in the swimming pool at their own pace.

On the STA Swim Curriculum in small classes (especially for the younger swimmers), for all swimming lesson planning and beacons for progression.

On teaching water safety skills and knowledge - what is safe and not safe in and around water, and the ability to stay safe in any water.

Fun in the water

Our swimming lessons are all about learning through age-appropriate play, themes and games in the pool.

We want all our swimmers to enjoy an enhanced swimming experience.

Our swimming teachers know how to maintain the fun element when delivering their swimming lesson plans.

Feel for water

We don’t just teach how to swim through water, but to have a feel for water as an element of life.

Feel is the key to swimming - whether in floating, blowing bubbles, going under or gliding through water.

This feel is fundamental to all swimming stroke development- that your child feels relaxed and happy in the water.

As they grow, we help them understand buoyancy, how water holds them as they swim, like a faithful friend.

In short, swimming is not just a skill, but a sensory experience. A deep sense of mutual interaction between swimmer and water.

A Note from Glenda

Hi there! I have had a love for swimming for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a family of swimmers, I spent so many happy hours in water! I went on to enjoy some years of competitive swimming, and finally opened my first swim school in 1991, to pass on this passion and feel for water.

I had the privilege of seeing some of my early swimmers going on to become competitive themselves. But my main satisfaction was in seeing all of them learn to love the water. Starting with my own three children!

After some years devoted to raising my kids, it was a pleasure to get back into the water as a swim teacher seven years ago. I taught with two swim schools across nine pools, with children from 3 months to 12 years.

I am passionate for all my swimmers to come to enjoy the feel of water from little, and about developing teachers with the same ethos as mine. I am qualified with STA Swim Teachers Award, ASA Levels 1&2, STA Baby & PreSchool, STA Level 3 Diploma in Aquatic Teaching for Babies and Toddlers, as well as Lifeguarding (NPLQ). I have also completed an Aquasensory Course.

  • “Both my daughters have swum with Glenda since they were 4 months old and I cannot recommend her enough. Her enthusiasm is second to none and both my girls adore her. Nothing is too much trouble and we look forward to our lesson each week.”

  • “Glenda is a fantastic teacher. Both my children have been swimming with her since they were babies. My daughter is very shy at times, but since swimming with Glenda her confidence has grown both in the water and out. Glenda is passionate, energetic and full of fun, this is reflected in her lessons. My kids absolutely adore her and look forward to their swimming lessons. I cannot recommend her enough.”
